Today obtained the transfer function for a simple approximation of the vocal tract consisting of an infinitesimally thin tube followed by two tubes of same length but different cross-areas. We noted that the transfer function contained
- a gain factor
- a two time unit time-delay
- an all pole filter.
We discussed the relationship between the mathematical espression we obtained for the transfer function and the action of the vocal tract on a pulse-train of air flow to produce voiced phonemes.
Action items
- Finish HW9. It is due Friday.
