A study group session will be held tonight (Tuesday, September 15, 2009) at 7:30 p.m. in REC 121. We will continue to have these on the same day and time unless otherwise noted. The actual meeting is planned for REC 121, but if it is taken we will find another room. So meet at REC 121. We will try and get Uli to reserve this room for our time slot. Hope to see you there!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Study Group Meeting Tonight 7:30 p.m. REC 121!

Software requirement

The preferred browser to use Rhea is Firefox version 3.

How to get started

  • If you click a blue link, it should get you somewhere interesting; if you click a red one you need to put interesting stuff there yourself.
  • Click the "Help" button above and read what's there.
  • Remember: you need to log in (with your Purdue login) if you want to edit or create pages.
  • Edit a page by clicking "edit" (under "Page" above). Don't forget to "save" (at bottom of "edit" page).
  • Suppose you are on page A and want to create a new page B attached to page A: click "Create a child page" on the right side-bar and follow the instructions given there. NOTE: once you have finished editing the new page B, you must save it and then go back to page A and insert the text "B" (without quotes!) in page A. This will create the link to page B on page A.
  • Suppose you are on page A and want to create page B but not use the child page link: edit page A and insert a "B" enclosed by a pair of square brackets. (Note that "B" is like a web address for a webpage. Each page also has a title, which you can chose by writing "B|fancy_title" in double square brackets rather than just "B"). Then "save" and find the new red link on page A that appeared. Click it. You are now on page B (which of course is empty at this point). NOTE: if the "new" link comes out blue, instead of red, you chose a title of an existing page and did not create a new one. The blue link gets you simply to the already existing one. Use distinctive names for your new creations! NOTE: if you do this, you should supply a category. (The child page link does that automatically).
  • If you place "Category:MA460_(Fall2009Walther)" enclosed by square brackets on top of a new page it will be parsed by the system as belonging to this course. It can then be searched (for) in a meaningful way.
  • To get a quick idea what works how, click "edit" on this page to see how to do the things visible on this page.
  • Note that the "edit" mode has a spell-checking feature: look for red-underlined stuff.
  • You can look at other Rhea pages by clicking "main page" and then "course pages". Especially the ECE pages will get you an idea where one can take Rhea...
  • Do you want to display pages in other pages?

Area to post questions, set up study groups, etc. Calculus Classes 1 and 2 Both of these classes have many options to them. For Calculus 2 you can take one of three options. 162 is the lowest level that you could take. This is going to be in a larger lecture hall and with little to no individual attention. Then you have 172 which is a higher level honors course. Its going to be a lot like 162 except more work, and you will have a few more projects to complete. Finally 181 is the highest version on could take. It is a lot of proofs and is typically for gifted students that want to challenge themselves.
