Dr. Blanco-Silva initially trained as a pure mathematician at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), where he specialized in Geometry and Topology. He moved to Purdue University (Indiana, USA), where he obtained both a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. on Applied Mathematics under the supervision of Prof. Bradley J. Lucier. His dissertation explores the approximation properties of curvelets, as well as their use in applications.

Blanco-Silva participated in the IMA thematic year on Mathematical Imaging, celebrated at the University of Minnesota.

Upon graduation, Blanco-Silva obtained a post-doctoral position for the IMI at the University of South Carolina, where he held a Research Assistant Professorship.

He has published some of his work on different areas:

  • Mathematical Imaging.
  • Approximation theory.
  • Applications of dynamical systems.
  • Automated theorem proving.
