Complex numbers, as we know, consist of real and imaginary parts. Examples of complex numbers are:

Complex numers can be added, subtracted, multiplied and divided. They also fall unded the algebra laws of commutivity, associativity, and distributivity. Complex numbers are most frequently encountered in Electrical Engineering in the field of Signal Analysis. In this field complex numbers are broken down to terms of sine and cosine waves. In this form they can be analyzed to find their amplitude, frequency and phase. This is most commonly done in the form of Fourier Analysis.
