Meet the Speaker: Scott Fancher

David Beering received his BSEE and MSEE degrees from Purdue University in 1985 and 1987, respectively.



Scott Fancher was named vice president and general manager of Airplane Development, a new Commercial Airplanes organization at Boeing, in November 2012. In this position, he has responsibility for all commercial airplane development programs. He leads the design, development, test and certification of the next generation of airplane models, including the 737 MAX, 767 Tanker, 777X, 787-9 and 787-10X.

Fancher has held many executive leadership positions in engineering, research and development and program management during more than 35 years with Boeing. His experience includes program management, technology development, design, product development, manufacturing and flight test of aircraft and spacecraft systems. Fancher has worked in many product domains within Boeing including commercial aircraft, tactical aircraft, airborne reconnaissance, missile defense, spacecraft, launch vehicles, advanced electro-optics, and communication systems development.

Fancher earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Washington University. He also earned a master's of business administration from Washington University's Executive MBA program.

Fancher also has served in a Congressional Fellowship as a legislative assistant to former U.S. Senator John Glenn.
