For the first two you use theorem 2, but I need some guidance on the rest of those questions. Any ideas?


well for d) if it has exactly 2 broccolis: then it would be (22+5-1 choose 22) 1 broccoli: (23+5-1 choose23) and no broccoli:(24+5-1 choose 24) and you multiply the three together...e and f are similar --Krwade 21:33, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Can you explain why those three numbers need to be multiplied on d)? Also, wouldn't it cause a problem of overcounting things? I think it needs to be added together instead... --Lee 17:37, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't get how to do e or f. Can someone help me?

Well, I'm not so sure I'm getting these right but I think for E), you just have to subtract 5 and 3 since it needs at least 5 things of chocolate and 3 things of almond. After you subtract those (24 - 8 = 16. So there will be 16 placeholders and 6 different options. So, C(16+6-1,16) = C(21,16) For F, you can follow the very same steps as d).--Lee 21:35, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
