Something I'm not too sure about is does it matter that we're talking about money?

I would say that if you have say, 13 people that have say $5.00 as a wage, and then 1 that has $5.01 as a wage, the average is 5.000714286. In money terms, this would likely be called $5.00. However, you'd still have one person making a wage larger.
