Definition of a linear system: A system is said to be linear if you can multiply any scalar with the input signal, and the output is equal to that same scalar times the transformed signal.


Definition of a non-linear system: A system is said to be non-linear if you cannot multiply any scalar with the input signal, and the output is equal to that same scalar times the transformed signal.
