Instructions for filling out the Expectations form
If you are a student who has passed the Advanced Topics Exam or who is preparing for the Advanced Topics Exam, you need to take the following steps before Nov. 1, 2009.
Step 1: Meet with your advisor to discuss what you are expected to do in order to make satisfactory progress toward the PhD this semester.
Step 2: You, the student, need to print the form at
http://www.math.purdue.edu/~bell/grad/expect.pdf
and write down what you understood the expectations to be on it.
Step 3: Give your advisor a chance to give you feedback about what you wrote on the form.
Step 4: After coming to a consensus about what is written on the form, both you and your advisor should sign it and the advisor should deliver the form to the Graduate Office.
