Hello all,

My name is Enrique Reynoso. This has been a long overdue project for me but I'm excited for what's in store for RHEA and hope to be a part of this as it develops. A little background before I go on.

I'm third year graduate student in the English Department, specifically the Rhetoric and Composition program. I recently defended my MA thesis and will be continuing here for my PhD. I'm originally from the great state of Texas (the Rio Grande Valley, to be specific) and enjoy the weather here, especially what you consider "hot". It's cute, quite frankly.

Anyway, one of my primary areas of focus is professional and technical writing. Broadly speaking, Professional Writing looks at common writing practices and methods in the workplace. For example, we can look at how very specific technical aspects of, say, a vehicle are filtered through the company and out to the broader public. If we were to look at a common car like a Ford Focus, we could take a look at how the vehicles is designed, fabricated, tested, etc. At a certain point, Ford as a company has to first internalize information such as underbody construction, aerodynamics, skidpad testing, horsepower and torque ratings, then figure out a way to organize and articulate that very specified auto industry information to the consumer.

That's just one example though. We also look at we interact with websites- which is going to be what I'll be discussing here - at least initially. In order to think a bit more forward and to prep for my next post, I'll quickly post a few questions that I'll return to:

First, what are the goals for RHEA? Is it primarily a resource for students or is it intended to spread out more broadly?

Second, how can/do users access the information on RHEA? Is it easy to navigate this website as is? What does the current layout "say" about RHEA?

Finally, how does this website connect to the university as a whole?
