HW3, ECE662 Spring 2010

Due by 5pm, Thursday April 29, 2010, in Prof. Mimi's Rhea dropbox.

Experiment with making decisions using Bayes rule and non-parametric density estimation. Summarize your experiments, results, and conclusions in a report (pdf). Make sure to include your code.

Suggestions:

  • Compare the accuracy of the 3 different techniques we learned (k-nearest neighbors, parzen windows, nearest neighbor).
  • Discuss how the choice of K, or the parzen window size, affects your results.
  • Discuss how the number of training samples influences the results.
