Instructions for filling out the Expectations form

Students in the Math PhD program who have passed the Advanced Topics Exam or who are preparing for the Advanced Topics Exam, should take the following steps before Nov. 1, 2009.

Step 1: Meet with your advisor to discuss what you are expected to do in order to make satisfactory progress toward the PhD this semester.

Step 2: You, the student, need to print the form at

http://www.math.purdue.edu/~bell/grad/expect.pdf

and write down what you understood the expectations to be on it.

Step 3: Give your advisor a chance to give you feedback about what you wrote on the form.

Step 4: After coming to a consensus about what is written on the form, both you and your advisor should sign it, and the advisor should deliver the form to the Graduate Office.
