*This class is extremely useful if you are an ECE student. It teaches you everything you need to know about matrix operations to understand most of the ECE calculations. I took this class together with ECE301 and thought that it would be more beneficial if it had been taken before. My suggestion is don't wait until you feel that you need this because sooner or later, you will see stuff taught in MA265 are critical in solving problems in some ECE classes. --hirawan

*MA265 can easily be expressed as course on "matrix". It deals with all the properties that different types of matrixes hold. Most students feel this course is very easy compared to MA266, but it turns out to be one of the useful things to learn in math deaprtment which later applies to EE courses. Matrix operations can be used greatly in Matlab as well.  --euijae

*MA265 is it important class as it applies directly to solving a system of liner equations. A lot of these systems can be found in ME statics and ECE circuit analysis and  Fourier transformations. It’s important to do and keep up with all of the homework as it will help your grade on homework/quiz/exam scores.  --Michael Shen

*If you are an engineer, MA265 is probably the most fundamental class you can and need to take. As a senior in EE, I realize how the concepts learned in this class is widely used in my ECE classes. Without a firm background in MA265, it is very unlike to succeed as an engineer. So my advise is to take this class seriously and do you best to get the most out of it.  --JaeSung Youn

* Personally, this course was not for me. Anything you learn to do here by hand can be much more easily done by computer. Most of the homework is busywork, and the exams were mostly memorization. Don't get me wrong; I see the usefulness of this class, but I feel that the setup is a bit dated. A better class would be one that very briefly taught you how to do each task by hand, but then focused on something more modern such as utilizing these concepts in MATLAB or Octave to do fun/complex projects as opposed to the trivial homeworks that are currently assigned as MATLAB work. As far as advice goes, you as an engineer will likely be forced to take this class and should focus on memorizing all the theorems, etc., as that memorization may be useful to you in the future. --Larry Price

*MA265 I like all my math classes including MA 265. I took this class a semester ahead of my ECE 301. It turned out that this class was very helpful for me to understanding ECE 301 materials such as Fourier transforms and matrix calculations. Practice is needed in order to learn this class well. So take every homework and quiz seriously will make the exams easier.  --Lin Yang

Peer Legacy for MA265

Have you already taken MA265? Do you have some advice to give to future students? Please write it here.

 • This class is extremely useful if you are an ECE student. --hirawan
 • MA265 can easily be expressed as course on "matrix". It deals with all the properties that different types of matrixes hold. Most students feel this course is very easy compared to MA266, but it turns out to be one of the useful things to learn in math deaprtment which later applies to EE courses. Matrix operations can be used greatly in Matlab as well. --euijae
 • MA265 is it important class as it applies directly to solving a system of liner equations. A lot of these systems can be found in ME statics and ECE circuit analysis and Fourier transformations. It’s important to do and keep up with all of the homework as it will help your grade on homework/quiz/exam scores. --Michael Shen
 • If you are an engineer, MA265 is probably the most fundamental class you can and need to take. As a senior in EE, I realize how the concepts learned in this class is widely used in my ECE classes. Without a firm background in MA265, it is very unlike to succeed as an engineer. So my advise is to take this class seriously and do you best to get the most out of it. --JaeSung Youn
