Welcome!

The West Lafayette Scholastic Chess club provides k-12 students with the opportunity to learn and play chess. We run several after school programs, including:

  • Learn & Play: Chess - After School: Grades K-3.
When: Wednesdays 3:30 - 5:00 pm.
Location: Cumberland School - Library
Coach: Bernard Parham Jr. (Scholastic National Champion) in cooperation with Prof. Vincent Duffy (School of IE) and Perihan Gulen
  • Learn & Play: Computer Chess & Engineering Systems: Any level - Grades K-5
When: Mondays and Fridays 4 - 5:30 pm.
Location: Purdue's Beering Hall (BRNG B280)
Instructors: Joey So, Zhihua Dong, Prof. Vince Duffy and Prof. Okan Ersoy
  • Learn & Play: Happy Hollow After School: Grades 4 - 6
When: Fridays 2:30 - 4:30 pm.
Location: Happy Hollow Elementary School, Room 115
Coach: Bernard Parham Jr. (Scholastic National Champion) in cooperation with Prof. Vince Duffy and Nihayet Ersoy
  • Tournament Training: Grades K-8
When: Tuesday, 3:45 - 5:15 pm.
Location: West Lafayette Public Library (Elm Room)
Coach: Bernard Parham Sr. (National Chess Master) in cooperation with Nihayet Ersoy.
