Just curious if any homework was assigned, and if not what we should be focusing on. Thanks
Tue, Feb 2, 2010: As of Feb 2, 2010 we have covered section 2.4 to the large extent. So 2.4 is due next Tuesday.
I recommend highly to solve at least 50% of the work that I will not collect. 50% is the minimum as for to not to fall behind. Also I highly recommend to read ahead. Just 30 min of reading ahead of class should help to prepare questions. I will be happy to answer them during the lecture.

Didn't you announce that 2.4 is due Thursday Feb 11th?
Prof. Alekseenko: I guess it depends on how we define the terminology. To me there is a difference between "is due" and "will be collected". "Is due" means that for the sake of understanding the material, the homework must be done. "will be collected" -- means that I will check that students did the assignment. I think I announced that 2.4 "will be collected" on Thursday, Feb 11th. Wouldn't it be great to finish the homework by Tuesday and ask questions about it in class?
