Class disruption response planning for ECE600, Fall 2009, Prof. Comer
In the event of a major campus emergency, course requirements, deadlines and grading percentages are subject to changes that may be necessitated by a revised semester calendar or other circumstances. Here are ways to get information about changes in this course:
- Our first means of communication will be the course page on Rhea, which is located here. The latest information will be displayed in the message box on top of the page. Should the need arise, we may decide to use Rhea to share material (e.g., documents, videos, etc.) to be used as a replacement for the lectures. Rhea will then become the main means for you to ask questions and discuss the class material.
- Note that if your instructor cannot continue teaching, another instructor may begin interacting with you through Rhea. (That's the beauty of a wiki!)
- Should you have any work to hand in during this period of time, you should proceed by uploading an electronic version of your work in the TA's dropbox, which is located (link to be posted as soon as TA information is known.) Likewise, if we need to hand back some graded material, we may decide to do it through your personal dropbox. Please take the time to learn how to access your dropbox here.
- Should there be problems with the server running Rhea (for example in the case of a campus-wide power outage), we will revert to email for communication. As Purdue's email access would then be likely affected as well, the plan is to rely on non-Purdue email accounts, such as gmail or yahoo. As part of the first homework assignment, you will be asked to send a non-Purdue email address to the TA and you will be asked to take note of the non-Purdue email address you can use to reach your instructor should the need arise.
Note that students and staff who have fever or other influenza symptoms need to isolate themselves and seek medical care. Do not report to work/class/office hours while ill.
